SERIAL EYES gets going

The first European post-graduate training programme on developing serial formats begins at the DFFB on Monday; 12 young screenwriters and producers from across Europe will be participating in the programme.

SERIAL EYES aims to train participants to develop novel, horizontally structured narrative formats for television, with stories unfolding over multiple episodes, focusing in particular on working in a team of screenwriters, and on close cooperation between scriptwriters and producers. The participants will acquire the skills and tools needed to develop new serial formats, such as creative writing, teamwork and marketing strategies.

The Writer’s Room training sessions will be headed by Frank Spotnitz (showrunner of “The X-Files” and “Hunted”). In addition to programme seminars, participants will spend much of their time during the course developing group and individual projects.

The programme is a cooperation between the DFFB and the LFS in London, with MEDIA support; further partners include Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, RTL and Atlantique Productions.
