DFFB Archive online

The DFFB archive website is finally online after 3 years of hard work. On the dffb-archiv.de site, the Deutsche Kinemathek presents archive material from the dffb, much of which has not been previously released.

The films made at the DFFB are archived at the Deutsche Kinemathek, with a number subsequently distributed. Almost 2,300 titles have now been included in the archive for online release. The roughly 70 productions that can be viewed largely at full-length include early works by Hartmut Bitomsky, Carlos Bustamante, Harun Farocki, Edna Politi and Helke Sander. These productions and the accompanying documents published along with them reveal the particular strengths and teaching concepts of one of Germany’s oldest film schools.

The online project conception reflects post-war German society as it made a fresh start politically and grew to maturity, and sketches out a portrait of the DFFB as a seismograph of political, cultural and aesthetic movements in Berlin’s cultural life over the past 50 years.

The preparatory work and online presentation of the DFFB archive has received financial support from: European Union – European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Governing Mayor of Berlin | Senate Chancellery – Cultural Affairs
