The Helene Schwarz Award

To the 40-year anniversary of the DFFB, the Helene Schwarz Award was given for the first time. The award is named after the most enchanting secretary of the German film world.

The founders are The Friends and Supporters of the DFFB, who take the engagement and all-encompassing love of Helene Schwarz as an example. Even after decades, she has not moved in her conviction that people are basically good and that students have talent. It is the intention of the founders to honor such this romantic position in life and art.
(translated from the Helene Schwarz Stiftungssatzung 2004)

The award brings to life a distinction honoring exceptional work in directing. The award may also be given for script, production and cinematography and is awarded every two years.
