Documentary Short Film looking for Producer

„Guest Rooms“ is an interdisciplinary artistic project that aims to shed light on the untold stories of immigrant workers in the German hospitality industry. Through it, we hope to bring to the forefront the power dynamics hidden by closed kitchen doors, well folded bed sheets and silent corridors.

The hospitality industry shapes our cityscape. It defines the food we eat, the sites we visit and the rooms in which we sleep. For many people, it also is a daily point of connection with different cultures. And in a multinational city like Berlin, the hospitality industry is maintained by the labor of thousands of immigrants. At a moment when a dangerous rhetoric against immigration is on the rise, our concept aims to ask a poignant question: who are the people that are considered proper “guests” in German society and who are the ones usually relegated to be invisible workers?

The project will be comprised of a art exhibition and a documentary short-film, provisionaly titled „Marietta“. In it, we will follow artist Lisa Vogel, as she researches the life story of her grandma, Marietta, an elusive Slovenian woman who migrated to Germany in the early 1960s.

We are currently looking for a Producer to help telling this story. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Thank you
