After studying music and painting, as well as philosophy, comparative religious studies and theatre and film studies, Fred Kelemen studied directing and cinematography at the DFFB. Since then, he has worked as a director and screenwriter on feature films that have won awards worldwide (e.g. the German Film Prize), as well as a cameraman on feature and documentary films both nationally and internationally. He has also directed productions at German theatres and produced feature films and documentaries internationally. Since 1995, lectures, lectureships and professorships at film schools and art academies in Germany and worldwide.
