Who is the pro\u00adgram tar\u00adget\u00ading?<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Ben\u00adjamin Har\u00adris:<\/strong> Ser\u00adi\u00adal Eyes is aimed at up-and-com\u00ading Euro\u00adpean TV writ\u00aders who have worked pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal\u00adly in their home mar\u00adket and are now ready to step up to an inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal lev\u00adel. The ide\u00adal can\u00addi\u00addate thrives on team\u00adwork and will want to work in a writ\u00aders\u2019 room set\u00adting. We accept twelve peo\u00adple per year, so it\u2019s a pret\u00adty inti\u00admate set\u00adting. You have to be will\u00ading to work with eleven oth\u00ader peo\u00adple in close quar\u00adters for nine months! Appli\u00adcants should have at least 1\u20133&nbsp;years of pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal expe\u00adri\u00adence as a screen\u00adwriter and should ide\u00adal\u00adly have writ\u00adten at least one episode for a dra\u00adma or com\u00ade\u00addy series for a TV chan\u00adnel in their own coun\u00adtry. Is it a day-to-day \u201cschool\u201d?<\/h1>\n<p><strong>BH:&nbsp;<\/strong>Ser\u00adi\u00adal Eyes is a full-time, res\u00adi\u00adden\u00adtial pro\u00adgram. That means par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants com\u00admit to liv\u00ading and study\u00ading in Berlin for the full 9 months. We car\u00adry a pret\u00adty packed, five-days-a-week sched\u00adule, espe\u00adcial\u00adly in the first semes\u00adter, with all-day work\u00adshops, sem\u00adi\u00adnars and writ\u00aders\u2019 rooms. There are writ\u00ading peri\u00adods at reg\u00adu\u00adlar inter\u00advals in the course. But par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants should expect to be togeth\u00ader with their peers on an almost dai\u00adly basis.<\/p>\n<h1>MP: What top\u00adics does the 9\u2011month pro\u00adgram cov\u00ader?<\/h1>\n<p><strong>BH:<\/strong> Our focus is the writ\u00aders\u2019 room expe\u00adri\u00adence. That means par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants learn the dynam\u00adics of the writ\u00aders\u2019 room and prac\u00adtice lead\u00ading a team of writ\u00aders. But we\u2019re also a project incu\u00adba\u00adtor that encour\u00adages a col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive work\u00adshop set\u00adting. Par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants are trained in nar\u00adra\u00adtive tech\u00adniques in ser\u00adi\u00adal writ\u00ading and the var\u00adi\u00adous modes for con\u00adceiv\u00ading new series con\u00adcepts. Each par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpant devel\u00adops his\/\u200bher own TV series from ini\u00adtial idea all the way to fin\u00adished project pro\u00adpos\u00adal and pilot script. They also col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adrate on group projects that are often writ\u00adten to a spe\u00adcif\u00adic brief from one of our indus\u00adtry part\u00adners. Final\u00adly, our par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants must under\u00adstand the exi\u00adgen\u00adcies and demands of the mar\u00adket\u00adplace and learn about var\u00adi\u00adous Euro\u00adpean mar\u00adkets and their spe\u00adcif\u00adic devel\u00adop\u00adment and pro\u00adduc\u00adtion meth\u00adods.<\/p>\n<h1>MP: What spe\u00adcial seg\u00adments apart from the train\u00ading at Berlin\u2019s dffb does the pro\u00adgram offer?<\/h1>\n<p><strong>BH: <\/strong> Our study trips are meant to intro\u00adduce par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants to dif\u00adfer\u00adent mar\u00adkets and the TV pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals work\u00ading there. Through our col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtions with the Lon\u00addon Film School and the Nation\u00adal Film School of Den\u00admark, we spent time in Lon\u00addon and Copen\u00adhagen respec\u00adtive\u00adly and explore the local TV indus\u00adtries, learn about their work\u00ading meth\u00adods and meet with oth\u00ader writ\u00aders, pro\u00adduc\u00aders and com\u00admis\u00adsion\u00ading edi\u00adtors from those mar\u00adkets. We attend the Berli\u00adnale Dra\u00adma Series Days and the Series Mania TV fes\u00adti\u00adval in Lille and con\u00adfer\u00adence in Lille, France, and host net\u00adwork\u00ading mix\u00aders at those events so that par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants can build their pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal net\u00adworks.<\/p>\n<h1>MP: What skills, con\u00adtacts, knowl\u00adedge do the par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants grad\u00adu\u00adate with?<\/h1>\n<p><strong>BH:&nbsp;<\/strong>Ser\u00adi\u00adal Eyes is a pres\u00adsure cook\u00ader. So one of the most impor\u00adtant qual\u00adi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions that our grad\u00adu\u00adates are rec\u00adog\u00adnized for in the indus\u00adtry is their dis\u00adci\u00adpline and their abil\u00adi\u00adty to work well under pres\u00adsure. In addi\u00adtion, Ser\u00adi\u00adal Eyes grad\u00adu\u00adates have built up a sharp under\u00adstand\u00ading of series sto\u00adry\u00adtelling. They know how to man\u00adage a team of writ\u00aders and are very com\u00adfort\u00adable in a writ\u00aders\u2019 room. Final\u00adly, they have amassed a net\u00adwork of indus\u00adtry con\u00adtacts across Europe.
