Two alum\u00adni of our SERIAL EYES<\/a> pro\u00adgramme have been fea\u00adtured in an arti\u00adcle on the renowned indus\u00adtry web\u00adsite SCREEN DAILY<\/a> (a branch of the British SCREEN INTERNATIONAL). Judit Ban\u00adhazi from Hun\u00adgary and Ivan Kne\u017ee\u00advi\u0107 from Ser\u00adbia are two of the five up-and-com\u00ading tal\u00adent\u00aded screen\u00adwrit\u00aders from South\u00adeast Europe.<\/p>\n

\u201cGermany\u2019s lead\u00ading film and TV school, Berlin DFFB, offers Ser\u00adi\u00adal Eyes, a post\u00adgrad\u00adu\u00adate train\u00ading pro\u00adgramme for tele\u00advi\u00adsion writ\u00aders and pro\u00adduc\u00aders that is wide\u00adly regard\u00aded as the most use\u00adful such plat\u00adform in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ben\u00adjamin Har\u00adris, head of pro\u00adgramme for SERIAL EYES, explains the unique char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics of these South\u00adeast Euro\u00adpean authors:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been very lucky to have had great young tal\u00adents from the [South\u00adeast Europe] region in almost every train\u00ading cycle. There are dif\u00adfer\u00adent sen\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties from these writ\u00aders than what we are used to from West\u00adern Euro\u00adpean writ\u00aders. For exam\u00adple, even though many of our writ\u00aders are too young to have expe\u00adri\u00adenced Com\u00admu\u00adnism per se, they were often there for the upheavals and immense change that were the 1990s, or are now expe\u00adri\u00adenc\u00ading the after\u00admath of those tran\u00adsi\u00adtion\u00adal years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the writ\u00ading there is often an open\u00adness for change and tran\u00adsi\u00adtion, but with a cer\u00adtain play\u00adful\u00adness,\u201d he con\u00adtin\u00adues. \u201cThe writ\u00aders are more will\u00ading to explore new things, new ideas, and even old issues with a new set of eyes. The sto\u00adries show an aware\u00adness of the seri\u00adous\u00adness of the social real\u00adi\u00adties of their own cul\u00adtures \u2013 crime, polit\u00adi\u00adcal cor\u00adrup\u00adtion, social inequal\u00adi\u00adty \u2013 but these themes are often dealt with in unex\u00adpect\u00aded ways. There is less inhi\u00adbi\u00adtion to mix gen\u00adres and tones and stark, gris\u00adly dra\u00adma exists side by side with almost absur\u00addist com\u00ade\u00addy.\u201d<\/p>\n
