This year the Wim Wen\u00adders Schol\u00adar\u00adship was award\u00aded for the 7th time by the Film- und Medi\u00aden\u00ads\u00adtiftung NRW and the D\u00fcs\u00adsel\u00addorf Wim Wen\u00adders Foun\u00adda\u00adtion. The renowned schol\u00adar\u00adship assists young film\u00admak\u00aders who endeav\u00adour to tell their sto\u00adries in new ways and to devel\u00adop their projects inde\u00adpen\u00addent\u00adly. To this end, the schol\u00adar\u00adship hold\u00aders pro\u00advide a total of 100,000 euros. In select\u00ading the projects to be fund\u00aded, spe\u00adcial atten\u00adtion was paid to orig\u00adi\u00adnal\u00adi\u00adty and to a strong visu\u00adal con\u00adcept.
\nSix projects were select\u00aded for fund\u00ading from a total of 33 appli\u00adca\u00adtions. Among the suc\u00adcess\u00adful appli\u00adcants is a project by two alum\u00adni of the DFFB: Eliza Petko\u00adva and Con\u00adstanze Schmitt received a schol\u00adar\u00adship of 10,000 euros for their film STILLE BEOBACHTER. What is spe\u00adcial about this project is that it tells the sto\u00adry of ani\u00admals observ\u00ading peo\u00adple, and not the oth\u00ader way around, which gives us an insight into how ani\u00admals view us humans.
\nThe awardees will stay in con\u00adtact with each oth\u00ader and, above all, with the jury and Wim Wen\u00adders through reg\u00adu\u00adlar col\u00adlo\u00adquia to com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adcate their project\u2019s progress and to sup\u00adport one anoth\u00ader in this devel\u00adop\u00adment phase.
\nWim Wen\u00adders con\u00adcludes by explain\u00ading the film indus\u00adtry and the cur\u00adrent sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion: \u201cI\u2019m delight\u00aded that we are using the schol\u00adar\u00adship to give these film\u00admak\u00aders the time and sup\u00adport they need to devel\u00adop their projects. Espe\u00adcial\u00adly giv\u00aden these dif\u00adfi\u00adcult times for cin\u00ade\u00adma, a medi\u00adum so close\u00adly linked to social inter\u00adac\u00adtion. More than ever, cin\u00ade\u00adma needs new forms and cer\u00adtain\u00adly oth\u00ader forms of pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion to strength\u00aden the medium\u2019s col\u00adlec\u00adtive expe\u00adri\u00adence.\u201d
