We would like to inform you about an impor\u00adtant devel\u00adop\u00adment at the DDFB: We will not be admit\u00adting any new stu\u00addents dur\u00ading the win\u00adter semes\u00adter of 2024\/\u200b25. This means that there will not be an appli\u00adca\u00adtion process start\u00ading this fall. We under\u00adstand that this news comes as a sur\u00adprise to many, but we made this deci\u00adsion for the good of all cur\u00adrent and future stu\u00addents.<\/p>\n

               Plan\u00adning ahead for a bet\u00adter Study Expe\u00adri\u00adence<\/em><\/h3>\n

The DFFB has big plans: In 2025, we are sched\u00aduled to move to our new premis\u00ades in the Berlin Decks in Moabit. These premis\u00ades will offer us gen\u00ader\u00adous office and sem\u00adi\u00adnar spaces, two cin\u00ade\u00admas, two stu\u00addios, a large tech\u00adni\u00adcal ware\u00adhouse, and mod\u00adern post-pro\u00adduc\u00adtion work\u00adsta\u00adtions. Study\u00ading and mak\u00ading films at the DFFB will be a whole new expe\u00adri\u00adence!<\/p>\n

Our deci\u00adsion to delay appli\u00adca\u00adtions was made with a lot of thought. The first year of study at the DFFB is very inten\u00adsive. Each stu\u00addent cre\u00adates a short film in spring\/\u200bsummer, and a total of 32 short films are pro\u00adduced. The suc\u00adcess\u00adful com\u00adple\u00adtion of these first-year films is foun\u00adda\u00adtion\u00adal \u2013 what stu\u00addents learn dur\u00ading this time forms the basis for the rest of their DFFB stud\u00adies. For this first year to be suc\u00adcess\u00adful, we need opti\u00admal con\u00addi\u00adtions for film\u00ading and post-pro\u00adduc\u00adtion. Because of this large move, we can\u00adnot guar\u00adan\u00adtee stu\u00addents an opti\u00admal envi\u00adron\u00adment for the smooth pre-pro\u00adduc\u00adtion, pro\u00adduc\u00adtion, and post-pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of their films.<\/p>\n

It is very impor\u00adtant to us to not com\u00adprise on our high edu\u00adca\u00adtion\u00adal stan\u00addards. These stan\u00addards are exem\u00adpli\u00adfied by the DFFB stu\u00addents\u2019 par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpa\u00adtion is many inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal film fes\u00adti\u00advals in 2023, such as the Berli\u00adnale (GERANIEN by Tan\u00adja Egen), Cannes (IL COMPLEANNO DI ENRICO by Francesco Sos\u00adsai), Locarno (AS IF MOTHER CRIED THAT NIGHT by Hoda Taheri and SLIMANE by Car\u00adlos Pereira), Venice (SENTIMENTAL STORIES by Xan\u00addra Popes\u00adcu) and Toron\u00adto (ARTHUR & DIANA by Sara Sum\u00adma).<\/p>\n

               Next Appli\u00adca\u00adtion Oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty<\/em><\/h3>\n

The appli\u00adca\u00adtion process at the DFFB takes sev\u00ader\u00adal months. This process usu\u00adal\u00adly begins in the fall; suc\u00adcess\u00adful appli\u00adcants then begin their stud\u00adies the fol\u00adlow\u00ading win\u00adter semes\u00adter. To ensure that the next gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion of young and tal\u00adent\u00aded film\u00admak\u00aders has a suc\u00adcess\u00adful first year at the DFFB, we are open\u00ading our next appli\u00adca\u00adtion peri\u00adod in the fall of 2024. This means that incom\u00ading stu\u00addents for the win\u00adter semes\u00adter of 2025\/\u200b26 will be able to begin their DFFB careers at our won\u00adder\u00adful new cam\u00adpus!<\/p>\n

               Open House Day<\/em><\/h3>\n

The upcom\u00ading Open House will take place on Sat\u00adur\u00adday, Novem\u00adber 18, 2023, and will be an oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to learn more about the DFFB. We are sure that a vis\u00adit to the DFFB will be worth\u00adwhile, even if the appli\u00adca\u00adtion process only takes place the fol\u00adlow\u00ading year.<\/p>\n
