He was best known for his film GOOD BYE LENIN!, which was not only an inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal suc\u00adcess, but also shaped the image of an entire gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wolf\u00adgang Beck\u00ader was born in Hemer in 1954 and devel\u00adoped a pas\u00adsion for film\u00admak\u00ading at an ear\u00adly age. After begin\u00adning his stud\u00adies at the Free Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Berlin, he trans\u00adferred to the DFFB in 1981. He won the Stu\u00addent Acad\u00ade\u00admy Award and the Gold\u00aden Leop\u00adard in Locarno with his grad\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion film BUTTERFLIES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beck\u00ader\u2019s influ\u00adence on the Ger\u00adman film land\u00adscape is unde\u00adni\u00adable. He has set stan\u00addards not only with his tal\u00adent, but also with his abil\u00adi\u00adty to com\u00adbine com\u00adplex emo\u00adtions and his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal con\u00adtexts. His work was char\u00adac\u00adterised by sub\u00adtle humour and a pro\u00adfound exam\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion of social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was a found\u00ading mem\u00adber of the Ger\u00adman Film Acad\u00ade\u00admy and the Berlin pro\u00adduc\u00adtion com\u00adpa\u00adny X Filme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His death leaves a huge gap in the world of film. We will remem\u00adber Wolf\u00adgang Beck\u00ader as a cre\u00adative mind and sen\u00adsi\u00adtive sto\u00adry\u00adteller.
