The invi\u00adta\u00adtion is a spe\u00adcial hon\u00adour for the work, which was cre\u00adat\u00aded as part of the DFF\u00adB\u2019s doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary film work\u00adshop under the direc\u00adtion of Andres Veiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his film, Roth\u00adschild embarks on a per\u00adson\u00adal search for clues: A JEWISH PROBLEM is a doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary self-por\u00adtrait, told through con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adtions with his grand\u00admoth\u00ader Ruth, pri\u00advate archive footage and video mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal from his time as a mil\u00adi\u00adtary cam\u00adera\u00adman in the occu\u00adpied Pales\u00adtin\u00adian ter\u00adri\u00adto\u00adries. The film links dif\u00adfer\u00adent expe\u00adri\u00adences of exile \u2013 those of his grand\u00admoth\u00ader, his own and those of the Pales\u00adtini\u00adans \u2013 and places them in the con\u00adtext of col\u00adlec\u00adtive his\u00adto\u00adry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis film is an attempt to trace the links between the Holo\u00adcaust and the Nak\u00adba through the lens of my own fam\u00adi\u00adly his\u00adto\u00adry\u201d, explains direc\u00adtor Ron Roth\u00adschild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2007 to 2010, he served as a cam\u00adera\u00adman in the Israeli army. Today, he lives in Berlin \u2013 geo\u00adgraph\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly far away, but marked by his expe\u00adri\u00adences, the images and the inevitable echo of vio\u00adlence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A JEWISH PROBLEM fits seam\u00adless\u00adly into this year\u2019s DOK Leipzig pro\u00adgramme, which com\u00adbines polit\u00adi\u00adcal rel\u00ade\u00advance with artis\u00adtic diver\u00adsi\u00adty. With its explo\u00adration of mem\u00ado\u00adry, iden\u00adti\u00adty and respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty, the film is an impres\u00adsive con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtion to inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary film\u00admak\u00ading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DOK Leipzig is the old\u00adest doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary film fes\u00adti\u00adval in the world and is con\u00adsid\u00adered one of the most impor\u00adtant forums for inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive and engag\u00ading doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary film.
