Project Type: Independent Poetic Documentary
Location: Berlin (Hybrid – on-location + remote coordination)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Volunteering (with future compensation option)
About the Project
WILDE RENATE – A DREAM THAT DANCED is an independent poetic documentary exploring the emotional, cultural, and transformative legacy of the Berlin nightclub Wilde Renate. Told from the inside out, the film is a farewell ritual — a love letter between a space and the souls it held.
We’re currently in pre-production, with a committed core team already in place, including two producers (Anahita Safarnejad & Dimitri de Frouville), a Production Assistant, and a Director’s Assistant.
We’re now looking for a Production Manager to join our journey and help coordinate the heart of this growing project.
Responsibilities
Maintain a clear overview of the production process
Organize and track archive material and permissions
Manage production schedules, calendars, and call sheets
Coordinate logistics (transport, permits, equipment, location access)
Track expenses, budgeting, and assist with financial planning
Support internal communication and team onboarding
Ensure smooth collaboration between creative, technical, and post-production departments
Communicate closely with the producers and director to monitor timelines and deliverables
The Ideal Fit
The best fit would be someone who is currently a film or production student, eager to bring their expertise into a real, emotionally rich project. You love keeping things organized, thrive in chaotic creative environments, and enjoy being the bridge between vision and execution.
Requirements
Studying or experience in film/documentary production or management
Structured, hands-on, reliable, and solution-oriented
Strong communication skills in German and English
Confidence with tools like spreadsheets, emails, budgets, and schedules
Curious and open to working in poetic/experimental cinema environments
Bonus Points
Familiarity with Yamdu or similar tools
Experience with archival footage organization
Passion for Berlin’s club scene, independent filmmaking, or cultural memory projects
Compensation
This is currently a volunteer role, as the film is funded via crowdfunding and grant applications. Once production funding is secured, a fair compensation structure will be discussed and prioritized.
