Work­shop 20.–21.01. /​​/​​ film­Ar­che /​​/​​ Visu­al Work­flow: What to Con­sider when Craf­ting Images

From pre-pro­duc­tion to color gra­ding through light­ing, this work­shop gives an over­view of the many steps invol­ved in the visu­al pro­cess of film­ma­king and exami­nes how to craft a con­ti­nuous look through the who­le pro­duc­tion pro­cess. We will dis­cuss tech­ni­cal basics for came­ra and light­ing as well as crea­ti­ve ques­ti­ons on both a theo­re­ti­cal and a prac­ti­cal level. This two-day con­tri­bu­ti­on, hap­pe­ning on the 20–21.01 at the film­Ar­che, is par­ti­cu­lar­ly rele­vant to aspi­ring cine­ma­to­graph­ers, direc­tors and ever­yo­ne who aims to broa­den their know­ledge of visu­al con­ti­nui­ty.

Mar­kus Ott is a Ger­man cine­ma­to­grapher living in Ber­lin. He stu­di­ed time-based media at Hoch­schu­le Mainz, befo­re gra­dua­ting in cine­ma­to­gra­phy at Film­aka­de­mie Baden-Würt­tem­berg and La Fémis in Paris. Mar­kus has con­tri­bu­ted to the Ger­man strea­ming land­scape with two short fic­tion­al series for ARD Media­thek and Joyn. His inter­na­tio­nal expe­ri­ence spans short films, com­mer­cials and docu­men­ta­ries, with over 90 film fes­ti­val scree­nings, inclu­ding reco­gni­ti­on at the First Steps Award, Hofer Film­ta­ge and the Deut­scher Wer­be­film­preis.
