Medusa

After a failed date, Merve seeks her friends company in a neighbourhood hairdresser's salon. Her friends try to cheer her up and share their own strange experiences with men. Her mood worsens and she loses herself in thoughts of the gorgon Medusa and her unfortunate fate. An argument breaks out between the friends about whether Merve's single life is her own fault.

KRZYK

As bacteriologist Lena (38) drives past a burning car, she hears a scream of a dying woman. Lena does not tell her boyfriend how much the incident distresses her, just as she does not talk about the stillbirth she recently had. Instead, she throws herself into her work, intrudes into the life of the deceased, begins an affair with the widower and gradually takes on the role of mother to their son. Her persistent insomnia causes her to lose control between dreams and reality. Finally she accepts the help of a whisperer and then finds her own way to cope with her loss.

Arthur & Diana

Arthur & Diana are brother and sister. The two of them share custody of their father’s old Renault. Still registered in France, the car needs its long expired vehicle inspection certificate to be renewed, so the siblings embark on an absurd trip from Berlin to Paris. For Lupo, Diana’s two-year-old son, this adventure feels like an exciting family holiday. After an encounter with the police, an antagonistic stop at their mother’s place, an overly sensual party, a flat tire, a funeral, and repeated tumultuous car conversations, they will end up all the way down in Italy, with a few more friends and hopes than they had left with. “Arthur&Diana” is an auto fictional experiment, a transeuropean road movie where documentary and constructed reality mingle to build an alternative world.

As if Mother Cried that Night

Sirvan and Hoda, an Iranian couple whose asylum application was rejected in Germany, live in a refugee camp in Berlin. In order to obtain a residence permit, they decide that Hoda should become pregnant by a German man, in order to give both of them the right to stay in Germany. As we pursue this unconventional path of getting a permission to stay, we lose ourselves in the labyrinth of German bureaucracy and remain there with no solution and with the bitter feeling that current laws and structures are deeply qustionable.

This is the last time I’m doing this

Matthias and Cosmo go to an extended family party and have something to say to his mother Gunde. But next to the hustle and bustle, encroaching aunts and Gunde's dominant behaviour, it doesn't come to that. Instead, they are asked to deliver a cake to family friends on their way home. Shortly thereafter, they are faced with closed doors. While they wait and night falls, they playfully try to get closer. But their unspoken fears and opposing ideas of family and the future collide.
