Angelika Levi
VITA
Angelika Levi has been the Artistic Director of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) since October 2025. As a research-based filmmaker, she creates hybrid and essayistic films that combine different media, perspectives, and narrative forms. Her works interweave documentary research with memory, imagination, and narrative structures, using these elements to develop a distinctive cinematic language. In doing so, Levi places images and stories in new social contexts and opens up spaces for a multifaceted exploration of history, the present, and perception.
MEIN LEBEN TEIL 2, her first feature-length essayistic documentary, premiered in 2003 in the Forum section of the Berlinale and won several awards. CHILDREN OF SRIKANDI premiered in 2012 in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and also won several awards. MIETE ESSEN SEELE AUF was screened at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and broadcast on arte. AHORITA FRAMES premiered in 2021 in the Forum Expanded section of the Berlinale. Levi studied at the DFFB and taught at the Film Department of Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach from 2022 to 2025. Her works are distributed by Arsenal Distribution.
