Films & Festivals
Every year about 150 films are made at the DFFB – 10 to 12 of which are feature films. Our most important task is to distribute these short and feature films on all possible channels.
We in the Festival Office are in charge of the non-commercial distribution of the student films. Our aims are to create high visibility worldwide for the creative work of DFFB students and to give profile to our directors, producers, DOPS, editors and scriptwriters for their future careers. DFFB films can be seen at renowned A-Festivals such as the Berlinale, Cannes Film Festival, in Locarno, Venice and Toronto, and also at many other important film festivals such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam and South by South West in Austin, Texas.
Together with our students, we develop a film-specific distribution strategy. This makes it possible for our students to develop a good understanding of the international festival landscape from which they can profit throughout their professional career.
In addition to film festivals, we are also responsible for the commercial dissemination of DFFB films. We are in close contact with distributors and sales agents to help bring student films into the cinemas and onto DVD/Blu-Ray, VOD and TV.
It is important to us that our students have the opportunity to work on their professional networks early on.
