Ocean Eyes

When English girl Immy (16) comes to Berlin to play a big concert, she decides to kill two birds with one stone and finally meet her estranged, German father. Christian, whom she barely knows, is anything but what she had expected - an egocentric, carefree actor without any interest in practicing his parental skills. Together they experience an emotionally tense night in Berlin, getting to know each other while struggling to respect each other’s personal boundaries.

Turkish Riviera

A video cassette is inserted: A toddler in a paddling pool somewhere on the beach. Parents and grandparents scurry around. Pictures of Senem's first visit to Turkey, so she tells us. This is the beginning of a search for home. Through interviews with her parents and grandparents, the filmmaker takes us through the ups and downs of the life of three generations of Turkish guest workers in Germany. The stories are accompanied by images of everyday life in Turkey. Today the family has returned to their homeland, only Senem has remained in Germany. Where does she belong? Sober reflection meets poetic collage, trying to find peace in the space between here and there.

Tábor

In western Ukraine is located one of the largest Roma settlements in the country - the place is called Tábor. An isolated quarter of the city of Berehove, where live mostly Hungarian speaking Romani people. The film shows one of the days of the celebration of Easter, when the boys water the girls, receiving Easter eggs for this. After the end of the holiday many of them leave the settlement with their entire families and go to roam the country. The film reflects human being in a timeless dimension, brings closer archetypal images: mother, father, child. Depicts the plasticity of the movement of a man and nature in the space, which they are being a part of, creating chaos that contains a balance between different components like light and shadow.

Second thoughts

When Marie’s boyfriend proposes to her in front of his entire family, she doesn't know what to say and flees to the countryside to think it over alone. But her thoughts accompany her. They sit around her in flesh and blood: Her mother pesters her with baby names, exboyfriends climb down trees and a woman in a sari narrates her life in poems. Her would-be fiancé eventually joins her, clashing his own luggage of thoughts with hers. But what if you show your thoughts to each other? How much honesty can a relationship take? In her first feature, director Zora Rux, an apprentice of Swedish filmmaker Roy Andersson, tells a surrealistic story of the search for one’s true self in poetic tableaus.

Apnoe

Grey house facades roll by like monstrous walls. Numerous identical windows, creating lines of lights as they pass by steadily. The bike courier Michel pushes through crowded streets of a dystopian city of the future. On behalf of the monopoly Clinair, he delivers oxygen tanks that are now necessary. His shift rushes him through the streets, his gaze, his movement brief and torn, no stagnation in his elaborate meandering stream. He can only linger with the woman from the advertisement video, who promotes grilled chicken on a screen. Accompanied only by a navigational voice in his ear and a radio operator who coordinates Michel’s route and regulates his state of fear, his nightly route leads him deeper and deeper into his subconscious.

Sounds of Nature

Luisa tries to balance caring for her mother (Eva), who is in a wheelchair, with her work in a dental practice and her personal life. During a walk in the woods they discover that a great distance has already developed between them. Whereas Eva finds comfort and security in the forest, Luisa senses only danger. Misunderstandings accumulate and an overreaction causes Luisa to abandon her mother in the forest. In the end, the forest remains silent while a despairing daughter searches in vain for her mother.

Notes of Berlin

NOTES OF BERLIN is an anthology film. 15 tragic and funny episodes with shifting protagonists guiding us through a day in Berlin. Every episode is inspired by a real note found in the streets of Berlin and posted to the site www.notesofberlin.com, one of Germany's most visited blogs. While the party is still going on in the clubs, the city awakes to a fair dawn as we discover a note attached to a street lantern: “For one minute please just stand here in silence, look at the sky and contemplate how amazing life is.” Only a very drunk young man notices the text and follows its advice. In 15 tragic and funny episodes with shifting protagonists the film paints a mood picture of current time Berlin and is a declaration of love to a city which might have never existed.
