Coming Home

Jo (11) is a slowpoke. When she misses her bus (again) she calls her big brother Robert to pick her up as usual. Instead, his girlfriend Caro comes. An accident on the way home changes Jo’s life forever. Three months later. Broken bones have healed. Jo is tired of talking about Caro’s death. She starts a new hobby, ice hockey: new physicality, new friendships, a place where she’s unknown. But her brother is the one who has to pick her up from training. On the repeated ride home, Jo and Robert are forced to deal with each other again.

Panihida

In a small village in the Republic of Moldavia, an old woman dies, leaving her son Petru and her granddaughter Anisoara behind. According to their tradition, the whole village mourns and bids farewell. After the death watch during a stormy night they make their way to the cemetary. The old men carry the heavy coffin over stony paths up to the sacred hill. The sun is high and the way seems endless, but against the thirst there is wine and against the grief there is singing. So in this landscape of paradisal beauty, joy mixes with sorrow and in the end, life stands above death.

Tourist

After several years of absence, Sabine returns to her home town near the Baltic Sea - and to her old circle of friends. Though they do much of what they've always done together - spend days at the beach, camp out in the woods, and party - Sabine can't help but feel the group has grown closer and more intimate than ever in the time she has been away. Overwhelmed by the group's playful energy, she struggles to find just how and where she fits into the picture.

When east suddenly appears to be west

The location of the deserted „Motor Pool Grünau“ in Berlin-Lichtenberg inspired the young director Ki Bun to raise the question: what causes the end of a form of society in an individual – if the new form of society suddenly seems to have no more room for the individual? What happens to a person, whose long-lasting working place does not exist anymore overnight whereby his life-task and social value is questioned – whose existence is suddenly expendable? Finding that one of the most difficult tasks of life is to be anchored in the “here and now” as people are torn between the longing look into the past and the worried look into the future, the filmmaker is mainly interested in the emotional level of a person who is seemingly unable to let the past go and therefore ends up in an identity crisis. The director, who up until now has worked in a scenic way, addresses this subject in fragmentary atmospheric imagery and sound on three different screens in the shape of a video installation, that intentionally offers the viewers their own space for thoughts.
