Love of the Loveless

The film is about two opposing poles of love - the darwinistic rules of a merciless battlefield of attractiveness on the one hand and the hope for a love strong enough to exist beyond these borders on the other. The two main characters, opposite as well in their appearance as in their attitude towards life, seem not to have anything in common except maybe for their loneliness. They meet in a modern fitness resort, as trainer and trainee... The cynical personal trainer Inez turns the pragmaticly naive Ulrich, who is searching for a „true love“ to release him from his sufferings, into a tool of her self-hatred. An evening in the hotel`s discotheque leads to the escalation Inez has been aiming for. So, how much humiliation can Ulrich cope with?

Global Home

As soon as filmmaker Eva Stotz found out about the Couchsurfing network, she had to know more. What was this online community providing a free place to sleep anywhere in the world, a chance look in on the lives of complete strangers, and an opportunity to reach out beyond the internet after only a few emails? Eva packed her camera and set off on her travels. How does a Tuareg man in Mali use new media? What took a British environmental activist to the West Bank and what is a Brazilian dancer doing out in provincial Turkey? How is a Japanese teacher helping kids in Tokyo to discover their natural surroundings? And who is this person in San Francisco who started up Couchsurfing? GLOBAL HOME tells the fascinating stories of those who see globalization and the internet as an opportunity to meaningfully connect and interact more with others. A travel film that will make you want to experience for yourself this unexpected side of the digital world.

Passersby

A nighttime odyssey just before New Year’s Eve: Katharina and Christian are walking along a Berlin back road – caught up in a fight. This conflict spreads out around them: it covers the dirty coat Katharina is wearing, a child she meets and a waiter who doesn’t want to leave her alone. Between external stimuli and internal conditions an idiosyncratic and seemingly inescapable space of repressed aggression and confrontation emerges.
