The great Plai Chumpon death party

Two generations, loosely linked in the suburban areas of Berlin: F. is a musician (inspired by the musician John Fahey, who died in 2001), solitarily, without a relationship, without constant employment. His life at a turning point takes place mainly indoor, facing lost illusions like his failed relationship. In contrast the three teenagers Fuat, Son and Amsel are wandering through the city, still ignoring the borders the adults are trying to settle. Movement, communication and artistic practice are the tools in this rough state description, with which is insured again and again that one is still alive.

My Father. My Uncle.

A moving documentary, chronicling the story of 26-year old, Iraq-born Sinan, who was adopted at birth by his uncle Farouq and his German wife Brunhilde. Following the couple’s split a few years later, he was taken by his mother to Darmstadt, Germany, where he has lived ever since. In ‘My Father, My Uncle’, we watch as Sinan prepares to meet his original family, now exiled from Iraq and based in Sharjah, UAE. Knowing little about his Arabic origins or culture, Sinan views the impending meeting with trepidation. However, while the reunion brings a complex tangle of emotions to the surface, the experience proves to be an enriching and insightful experience for all concerned, as their respective cultures and ideologies are shared and debated.
