Snow

Turquoise tells a fictional childhood memory of Fatih Akin: Dali-like perspective. Never ending plains. Much sky and little land ground. A turquoise woolen thread coming from the horizon is all we see. A woman knits a woolen cap from the thread. Behind her we see her son. The child receives the turquoise knitted cap from his motehr as a present. He goes to play with the other children in the snow. But he looses his woolen cap in the process. Spring arrives, snow melts. Water is eveywhere. The child can't find his cap. Then we see a photo of the boy on a wall. Soon we recognise the woolen thread running from the ball of wool lying on the table. We look in the other direction and find the picture from the begining again. The never ending plains and the woolen thread all the way to horizon.

Princess

They'll smack your face if they don't like it. Tomorrow is a bad day: Yvonne is going to prison... The story takes place during the doldrums between Christmas and New Year’s Eve in a typical West German suburb. Christmas lights still adorn the dull apartment blocks, cheap motels and discount markets as premature fireworks echo throughout the industrial wasteland. Eighteen-year-old Katharina, who has resettled from Russia to Germany, spends her time with Yvonne and the rest of the gang. The girls roam through their territory in search of something. They don’t know what for. But it must be something that will change their lives irrevocably.

Senegallemand

A Muslim soldier from Senegal and a German sociologist have a six-year-old daughter. Although they live separately, the spilt up family travels to Senegal together. While it is hard for him to get back on track in his homeland she becomes passionate with her ethnological work about female emancipation in Muslim societies. The film reflects about gender roles in an incoherent globalized world. How did this love between two different galaxies evolve and why did it break up? Is their child capable of unifying the two worlds or is it going to be the innocent victim...
