We are looking for three creative collaborators to join the team for our dialogue-driven, emotionally intimate short film Vermissung ist da. The film is a chamber piece exploring memory, siblings, and the invisible emotional architecture of a family home.
1) Set Designer / Production Designer
We need someone with a strong sense for character-driven spaces and subtle visual storytelling. The film takes place entirely inside an older woman’s apartment — slightly aged, eclectic, carrying traces of a life lived.
The existing location already includes wild red tones in the walls and furniture, as well as mixed, mismatched, but emotionally charged objects. We will start from that and build upon it with strange, poetic, slightly unsettling touches in the decor. We want to lean into the imperfections of the flat to highlight themes of memory, inherited chaos, and emotional residue.
Great for someone who wants to practice atmospheric world-building on a small budget.
2) Costume & Makeup (can be two separate roles or one combined)
Work with two characters, siblings in their late 20s/early 30s, both emotionally loaded but restrained in expression, as well as with the wardrobe of their recently passed mother. Includes work with:
- Story-first costume design
– Textures, muted palettes, lived-in clothing
– A clean, subtle makeup approach that enhances emotional realism rather than stylizes
Great opportunity for someone interested in performance-driven films and minimalist aesthetics.
3) 1st Camera Assistant / Focus Puller
We’re shooting both static and moving images — precision in focus and the adjacent details are crucial. We’re looking for someone confident with:
- Pulling focus during performance-heavy dialogue
– Supporting a small, agile camera team
– Staying sharp during long takes with emotional weight
If you’re interested, please send an email to vermissungistda@gmail.com with a Subject: “Vermissung ist da: Role Description” with a short introduction, any previous work and your availability for the shoot days (17/18 January 2026)
We’d love to hear from you — let’s make something small, intense, and beautiful. 🎬
