About the pro­ject:
21 Days tells the sto­ry of two que­er peo­p­le who fall in love but have only 21 days to spend tog­e­ther. As they dis­co­ver more and more how per­fect they are for each other they also have to batt­le the ques­ti­on what will hap­pen after the 21 Days. Will the foun­da­ti­on they are buil­ding be strong enough for a long-distance-rela­ti­onship?

Andy (22)
Andy is an exch­an­ge stu­dent who has only 21 days left in Ber­lin befo­re retur­ning to her fara­way home coun­try to con­ti­nue her life the­re. So far, her semes­ter abroad has been rather lonely — due to her social anxie­ty, she has bare­ly made any con­nec­tions and has spent most of her time pur­suing her pas­si­on: lite­ra­ry stu­dies. When she meets Oskar, this chan­ges dra­sti­cal­ly, and rea­li­ty beco­mes more exci­ting than all her books have been.
It is man­da­to­ry that you can speak with an accent from a coun­try far away from Cen­tral Euro­pe (Aus­tra­li­an, Ame­ri­can, Rus­si­an, Chi­ne­se, etc. — you name it).

Oskar (23)
Born and rai­sed in Ber­lin. He dreams of beco­ming a screen­wri­ter but doesn’t dare to pur­sue that dream. Over­all, he feels dis­sa­tis­fied with his life in Ber­lin — the con­stant par­ty­ing, the end­less situa­ti­onships, his for him meanin­g­less stu­dies — and doesn’t know what do to with him. Andy, who sup­ports his talent and brings emo­tio­nal depth and authen­ti­ci­ty to his life, gives him a new per­spec­ti­ve.

Sascha (25)
Sascha is Oskar’s best fri­end and his com­pa­n­ion in Berlin’s par­ty sce­ne. As Oskar gra­du­al­ly distances hims­elf from his old life — and thus from Sascha — Sascha rea­li­zes that may­be he has felt more for Oskar than just fri­end­ship.

Artist (any age)
Andy and Oskar meet an artist in the park who draws a por­trait of the two of them. For this role, we are loo­king for someone who can draw por­traits and also feels com­for­ta­ble per­forming in front of the came­ra.

Unfort­u­na­te­ly it is unpaid. But we wan­na crea­te a nice expe­ri­ence for you with a lot of oppur­tu­ni­ty to act and try things out. You should be proud of the finis­hed pro­duct of hop­eful­ly see it being play­ed at num­e­rous film­fes­ti­vals.
As we are plan­ning to shoot most­ly on weekends the work would be com­pa­ti­ble with a regu­lar jobs you do during the week. The shoo­ting will take place in Ber­lin.

My name is Divya Ghela­ni. I’m a Ber­lin-based fic­tion wri­ter and jour­na­list. I’m curr­ent­ly working in the edi­to­ri­al depart­ment of Lon­don-based Wasaf­iri Maga­zi­ne, a cele­bra­ted high-end inter­na­tio­nal lite­ra­ry maga­zi­ne with a for­ty-year heri­ta­ge, which has published aut­hors such as Boo­ker pri­ze-win­ning Kazuo Ishi­gu­ro, Ber­na­di­ne Eva­ris­to, Kiran Desai, the late Ngu­gi Wa Thion­go, and many more.

I am run­ning a Ber­lin Inter­na­tio­nal Wri­ters Series for Wasaf­iri Online. It is cal­led ‚Wri­ting the Self, Wri­ting Ber­lin‘, and the first pie­ce has just been published – a medi­ta­ti­on on novel-wri­ting, IVF, and what it means to try for things you want in life.

For the second pie­ce, I’m plan­ning a ‚4 Wri­ters In Con­ver­sa­ti­on‘ film­ed artic­le, also for the Wasaf­iri web­site. It would include award-win­ning wri­ters and poets Deniz Utlu, my hus­band the nove­list Rajeev Bala­subra­man­yam, poet and trans­la­tor Sylee Gore, and novelist/​translator, Vijay Kharu­na.

I plan to film the pie­ce in the Com­mu­ni­ty Gar­den behind the Church of Recon­ci­lia­ti­on, next to the Ber­lin Wall in Mit­te. The mee­ting will take place 12 noon on August 18th.

If any film stu­dents with film­ing equip­ment are wil­ling to take up the task in exch­an­ge for novels, Wasaf­iri Maga­zi­nes, lunch, and a writ­ten refe­rence from me?

I’d be deep­ly gra­teful for your help and hope a stu­dent is keen as film and wri­ting work is so ali­gned, and you will under­stand my wish to do my abso­lu­te best for the wri­ters I’m plat­forming on a very small bud­get.

Wir suchen dich als Tonmann/​Tonfrau am Set von HOT NIGHTS OF HORROR.

Ein unend­lich hei­ßer August­tag geht zu Ende und heu­te steht sie end­lich an: die Pre­mie­ren­show der neu­en Rei­he HOT NIGHTS OF HORROR. In sei­ner Bade­wan­ne lauscht Dani­el den Ereig­nis­sen im Stu­dio des Col­lege-Sen­ders. Dort sitzt Con­nor Dick­son, der Mode­ra­tor; ein Mes­ser steckt tief in sei­nem Bauch. Täte­rin: sei­ne Gesprächs­part­ne­rin Patri­cia. Sie weiß jetzt schon, was sich für den Hörer erst im Lauf der Sen­dung offen­ba­ren wird: Con­nor Dick­son ist der Teu­fel. Und er sinnt auf Rache für das dre­cki­ge Küchen­mes­ser in sei­nem Magen.

Für die­sen Hor­ror­kurz­film suchen wir drin­gend noch jeman­den für den Sound.
Die Dreh­ta­ge sind in der kom­men­den Woche am 23. und 24. August.
